M-DCPS High Schools Ranked High on U.S. News & World Report’s Annual List of the Best High Schools
U.S. News & World Report recently released its 2020 Best High Schools rankings of nearly 18,000 public high schools, out of a review of more than 24,000 in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) led Florida once again with 133 schools on the list, including four high schools among the top 100 in the nation, including nine in the top 20 for the state. These include School for Advanced Studies (SAS) which is the number one school in Florida, and the fourth top school in the nation.
“In the middle of this pandemic crisis, we can all use some good news,” said Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho. “The U.S. News & World Report shines a bright and positive light on the unparalleled talent and drive of our students and educators,” said Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho. “M-DCPS continues to demonstrate that our District, regardless of the circumstances, is a leader in academic performance, and that includes providing our students with a remarkable range of educational opportunities.”
Four M-DCPS schools were recognized as among the best 100 schools in the nation:
- #4 School for Advanced Studies (All five campuses)
- #52 Young Women’s Preparatory Academy
- #72 Design & Architecture Senior High School (DASH)
- #94 Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy
Nine M-DCPS schools ranked among Florida’s top 20, four among top 10:

- #6 Design & Architecture Senior High School (DASH)

The magazine analyzed all of the schools relative to college readiness, math and reading proficiency and performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth, and graduation rate.
