DISTRICT-PROVIDED BUS TRANSPORTATION
In accordance with School Board policy, Transportation services available to students vary by each child’s eligibility and need for those services. Speak with your school’s Magnet Lead Teacher or Magnet Secretary if you have questions about the available options at each school or to determine if your child is eligible for District-provided bus transportation.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Miami-Dade County Transit
All Magnet Schools students in Miami-Dade County are eligible for a K-12 EASY Card from Miami-Dade County Transit.
These are Kindergarten (K) students and 1st through 12th grade (1-12). Students with a K-12 EASY Card can ride Metrobus and Metrorail for half price. Preschoolers ride free.
Discounted Fees
The K-12 Discount EASY Card can be loaded with a daily, weekly or monthly pass. The $2 cost of the EASY Card is waived for first-time applicants.

- Metrobus Shuttle: Free
- 1-Month Pass: $56.25
- 7-Day Pass: $14.60
- 1-Day Pass: $2.80
Students can also add cash value to the card online through Transit Store, by phone or in person at any Metrorail station or sales outlet.
How to Apply
Apply at any Transit Service Center or online by completing the registration form.
Make sure to provide the following information when applying:
- Proof of enrollment
- A current student ID
- Class Schedule
- Recent report card
Once the form is complete and submitted, your new K-12 EASY Card will arrive by mail in 15 business days.
Only a student, parent or legal guardian may apply for the K-12 EASY Card.
If the student attends school in Miami-Dade County but his or her parent or legal guardian live in another county, the student can still apply for the K-12 EASY Card.
Tri-Rail
In our mission to ensure safe and reliable transportation to and from school, Magnet Schools has partnered with Tri-Rail. Students qualify to receive a 50% discount on One-Way, Round-Trip, and Monthly passes, with proof of current school enrollment.
How to Obtain a Discounted Fare EASY Card
Student passengers must pre-qualify to obtain a Discounted Fare EASY Card for a $2 charge by taking the proper eligibility documents to a Ticket Kiosk equipped with a photo station. Discounted Fare EASY Cards are available at the West Palm Beach, Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale Airport, Metrorail Transfer and Miami Airport Station ticket kiosks. Please call 1-800-TRI-RAIL (874-7245) prior to visiting kiosks to confirm station Customer Experience Specialist availability.
Miami-Dade County’s GO Connect
Miami GO Connect is Miami-Dade County’s on-demand transportation service. When you’re ready, book a shared ride straight from your phone in one of their four service zones and get picked up in a sleek, comfortable vehicle. Commute, get to school, explore the sights, or get just about anywhere you need without breaking the bank.

Coral Gables Trolley
The Coral Gables Trolley provides free service from Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on two routes, Ponce de Leon and Grand Avenue.
- Ponce de Leon runs north and south on Ponce de Leon Boulevard, from Douglas Metrorail Station to Flagler Street.
- Grand Avenue runs north and south from Douglas Metrorail Station through the historic McFarlane Homestead District.
